As seen on TV

With couples seeking to start families much later in life, age-bred infertility is a growing problem. In fact, one in six couples will have trouble falling pregnant.

An increasing number of couples are turning to alternative therapies, many after they've tried anything and everything else.

The Sharkey Healing Centre in south-east Queensland is one such place that claims to have helped bring over 4000 babies into the world through the use of herbal remedies.

Stacey Roberts, a fertility expert at the centre, says that conventional medicine says it gets harder to fall pregnant with each passing year.

"The statistics show that the fertility rate tends to drop off after the age 35 or 36," she says. But this doesn't mean you can't become pregnant after this age.  But the body may need some additional support.

Stacey says there's no magic in the herbs they use — they've been used for thousands of years and simply work to create healthy cells. She says that on average the body balances out between 4 to 6 bottles and this is when we tend to see most of our pregnancies.

When Jane and Victor tried to fall pregnant, Jane underwent acupuncture, was taking lots of antioxidants, working out at the gym, and undergoing IVF treatment. She even had her fillings removed. But at 46 and after 6 years of trying, Jane was almost ready to give up hope.

Conventional doctors said Jane had less than a one percent chance of conceiving, but after visiting the Sharkey Healing Centre, the couple now has a little baby, Paris.

"By the time they get to us they have been told all about every limitation they have about fertility issues, they've been given every drug and it hasn't worked," Stacey says.

For those who are desperate to have children, it's an option worth trying.
