Angie Kent had been trying to fall pregnant for three years.
She and her husband Mark were both healthy and already the parents of eight-year-old Christina. So they thought having another baby would only be a question of when - not if.
But Angie continually failed to become pregnant.
"Until you're in the situation, you just don't consider that you couldn't become pregnant. It seems the most natural thing in the world," saidAngie.
Her doctors diagnosed polycystic ovarian disease, or cysts on the ovaries, as the reason for her difficulty in conceiving, and they recommended IVF.
"But that wasn't an option for us because we couldn't afford it."
The couple kept trying to conceive for another year, and then Angie decided to try an alternative approach after reading an article about Nerang herbalist Ruth Sharkey.
Ruth had a well-publicised reputation for her success in helping women with fertility problems to become pregnant the natural way.
"But I never even got to see Ruth," said Angie.
"I rang her office, was sent some detailed forms to fill in concerning my age, health and family background, and sent them back."
"Then I received a bottle of herbal formula in the mail, started taking it and - six weeks later was pregnant."
Angie said both she and Mark were astonished by the result of their first pregnancy test.
"We did it twice to make sure," said Angie.
"I sort of believed the herbs would work, but had just not expected them to act so quickly after trying so long."
When Angie finally saw Ruth face-to-face five weeks later, it was only to inform her that she was pregnant and wouldn't need another bottle of formula.
Ruth has been dubbed 'the babymaker' by the media, and her former practice currently caters to 20,000 patients in many different countries around the world.
